Although he started in the late 1930s racing on ice, the West Swanzey, NH, racer's career took off in 1948 in a '38 Ford coupe.

Over the next 14 years he campaigned all over New England on dirt and asphalt alike, winning dozens of features and championships at Claremont and Keene, NH, Stafford Springs, CT, and the esteemed Thunder Road in Vermont. His ten victories in 18 starts in 1961, including five in a row driving for George Barber, remains one of the greatest seasons ever at Thunder Road. He passed away in 1988.
